Nicole Rees

Director / Speech Language Pathologist

Nicole earned her Master of Science degree in Speech and Language Sciences from University College London and began her career with the National Health Service in London, England, supporting preschool children. After returning to Burnaby in 2018, she worked in private practice and later took time to focus on raising her children. Becoming a parent has given her a renewed appreciation for the joys and challenges families experience, which she carries into her work every day.

Nicole has experience working with preschool and school-aged children with a range of speech and language needs. Her main areas of clinical interest include articulation and phonology, receptive and expressive language difficulties, autism spectrum, fluency (stuttering), and apraxia. She strives to ensure an approach that is individualized, functional, evidence-based, and neurodiversity-affirming. She understands that children learn best when they are engaged and having fun, so she incorporates each child’s interests into every session to make therapy both meaningful and enjoyable.

Nicole has completed training in the Curiosity Programme (by Gina Davies) for supporting young children with early social communication differences, as well as the Lidcombe Program for stuttering in children under six. She has also undertaken additional training through the Meaningful Speech course, focusing on supporting gestalt language processors.

Nicole is fluent in English and Tagalog, and is a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC). She is certified by Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC), is a member of Speech and Hearing BC, and is listed on the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP).
